High search engine ranking optimization
73If you want to make money on Hubpages you need to understand high search engine ranking optimization. Search engine rank optimization is vital for not only drawing traffic from search engines, but also drawing high paying ads. You need to understand how to find the best keywords to draw not only traffic, but those big spending advertisers that may match whatever niche or specific hub you are writing. You also need to understand that you do not want to just use the most popular of those keywords though. That is too simple and unfortunately can bury you if there is too much competition from others for those same keywords. Thus you will learn to put find alternate synonyms and create new phrase combining keywords in a way hundreds of thousands of others have already done. This will lead to your path of success. This will lead you to search engine optimization.
SEO advice
- Keywords tool - use a keyword analysis tool, such as the Google's Adword Keyword Tool. Find combination of words to form key phrases that show will bring some traffic, but not so much that it will bury your page in the search engines' results.
- Search engine copywriting - Place some other related keyphrases in your text near the top of your blog entry.
- Keyword placement - Place one of your best keyphrases in your title.
- Optimizing graphics - Add images to your blog. Make sure that they have captions containing the best keywords. Image placement is also important.
- Asset tags and labels - If your blog allows tags or labels, use more of your keyword phrases, or some of the previous ones here as well.
An Example
Okay, if you are not following along to the first step, which obviously is key, below is an example:
Suppose you are writing about how to play guitar.
- Go to Google's keyword tool.
- Press the columns button then, put a check in the box next to Estimated Avg. CPC then press Save.
- In the Word or Phrase box type, "how to play guitar"
- Review the generated list of phrases
- Note that the exact phrase has 550,000 global monthly searches and that estimated average cost per click is $0.93.
- Now if you think 550,000 is too high and will bury you in the search results, review the other suggested phrases. Note "learn to play guitar" brings the GMS down to 90,500 and the CPC up to $1.28. Less competition and higher paying CPCs = better!
- Now manually adjust your phrase in the box and see if you can come up with better results. Try, "best way to learn guitar." the GMS is now only 3,600. The CPC is $1.05.
- Note the phrase "the best way to learn guitar" brings the GMS down even further, to 720 and the CPC only down to $1.00.
Summazation
Is the slightly less chance of money per click worth the increased odds of your Hub or article being seen? That is up to you to decide ultimately.
I will just say do not get too greedy and practice until you find the number combinations that work for you.
DISCLAIMER: The stats given in the above example can change so if you do not find the exact same results when you play with the keyword tool do not be surprised. The averages should still prove the same results though.
