Romance for dummies

Romance does not mean having to act like someone from a Twilight Eclipse or The Young and the Restless. It just means taking the time to show you care enough to hit send on the button to his or her heart. Some people may feel they do not know how to be romantic, or tend to act like they have forgotten after being with their partner for a long period. Even if you are not still courting someone or wooing them, you must not forget to have a sense of romance. Once you win someone over, that is not it. It does not just end as if it is a game. You have to continue to pursue them, as they should you. Ask yourself how you feel when you are not given any attention.  Don't you like to sometimes be made to feel special or important? Doesn't action speak louder than words when someone does something to really demonstrate their love to you?

1. Say “I Love You” - Don't be too proud to say these words. This is the best thing you can do, and say it with meaning.

2. Give the occasional small gifts, not just on special occasions - You do not have to shower someone with gifts or buy expensive items, just every so often give them a random surprise to show you were thinking of them.

3. Hug, kiss, offer a gentle caress or massage - sometimes people are shy about this early on in dating, and later in relationships tend to forget such simple things. They keep romance alive in more ways than one.

4. Smiling and telling them they are still as attractive as the day you met - yes, it may sound cheesy, but if you say it sincerely, it would most likely make your partner's day. When you get a warm response you will be glad you said it.

5. Open a door for him or her - This does not have to be all of the time, but again, on occasion as it is the thought that counts.

6. Mix up the dates - Take him or her on a date of his or her choice sometimes, and other times make it some place spontaneous that you picked out.

7. Prepare a special meal for him or her - Anyone can buy takeout, but if you take time to prepare something, it is more impressive.

8. Random telephone call just to say you are thinking of him or her - Emails and texts are okay, but still try actual telephone calls sometimes to really emphasis that you mean it.

9. Holding his or her hand - This is one of the simplest things people forget. Do it.
